Patricia Turner: 1922 ~ 2016

Patricia Maynard Turner passed away Friday, Jan. 22, 2016, at her Three Rivers home.  She was 93.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, Feb. 1, at 11 a.m., at St. Anthony Retreat in Three Rivers.

Pat was born June 8, 1922, in Sugar Grove, Ark., to Joseph Calvin and Mary Francis (Cobbs) Maynard.

She married Bruce Turner and had three children, Ron (Nina), Cheryl (Brian Ford), and Suzanne. Dave and Lynn Minke and Kathleen Stone, their nephew and nieces, were welcomed into their family.

On July 31, 1943, Pat and Bruce were married in Shawnee, Okla. They made their first home in Burbank, Calif., where Pat had a 25-year career at the Bendix Aerospace Corporation as an electronics assembler and inspector.

In 1982, Pat and Bruce retired to Three Rivers and became active with community clubs and projects.  Beginning in 1988, Pat served as president of the Three Rivers Woman’s Club for two terms. She was also a proud Red Hat Society member.

The couple belonged to the Three Rivers Travel Club and were among the founding members of the Three Rivers Historical Society. They made year-round trips to their cabin in Silver City, yet she always rejoiced at returning to her beloved Three Rivers and her “home on the hill.”

One of Patricia’s passions was her membership with the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a past matron of both Granada Hills Chapter #616 and Martha Washington Chapter #12 (Visalia) and served as deputy grand matron to the State of California during her 50-year membership.

Patricia graduated from Byng High School in Ada, Okla., where she lettered in basketball all four years. She and her team won the Oklahoma State Basketball Championship in 1942.

Pat was predeceased by her five siblings and leaves behind her devoted husband of 72 years and her loving family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Patricia’s name to the Three Rivers Woman’s Club, P.O. Box 504, Three Rivers, CA  93271 and the Three Rivers Historical Society, P.O. Box 162, Three Rivers, CA 93271.
