Olin Lambert: 1936 ~ 2018

R. Olin Lambert died Monday, Feb. 12, 2018, at his Three Rivers home. He was 81.
Olin was born December 18, 1936, in Imperial Valley, Calif., to Ulysses and Ocie Lambert. He was raised and educated in Avenal, where he graduated from Avenal High School in 1954.
He worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Coalinga for 28 years as a letter carrier. Following that, Olin was the postmaster at the Lodgepole Post Office in Sequoia National Park for 16 years.
Olin and his wife, Joan, bought property in Three Rivers and built a home. They retired in Three Rivers where they continued to reside.
He was a scoutmaster, past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Coalinga, and a member of Sequoia Woodturners of Fresno. And with wife Joan, Olin was a coed advisor for the Boy Scouts Explorer Post 174 and participated in three Colorado River canoe trips with the group.
Olin enjoyed wood-turning, woodcarving, painting, camping with his family, and teaching his grandchildren the art of fly-fishing. He was also a great storyteller.
Olin was preceded in death by his parents, brother, two sisters, and his stepson, Steve Moore Sr.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joan, of Three Rivers; daughter Vicki Hutchings and husband John; son Scott Lambert and wife Angelic; stepson Bill Moore Jr. and wife Peggy; 13 grandchildren and their spouses; 23 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Olin had many dear friends, including his best fishing buddy, Lorin Durr (1931-2007); two dear friends and Three Rivers neighbors, Vern and Kathy McDonald; and his brother-in-law and woodturning partner, Bill Milliken.
Interment was Wednesday, Feb. 21, at Three Rivers Cemetery.
