Mary Ann Martorano: 1930 ~ 2018

 

Mary Ann Martorano of Coal Valley, Ill., formerly of Three Rivers, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2018, at her home. She was 88.
 
A memorial mass will be held Monday, Dec. 10, at Mary, Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Orion, Ill. 
 
Mary Ann was born February 21, 1930, in Los Angeles, to Albert T. Sr. and Mary (Ottaviano) Otis. On August 25, 1951, she married Alfred Martorano in Los Angeles. Mary Ann sang in church choirs and was a member of St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church in Los Angeles, St. Clair’s
Catholic Mission in Three Rivers, and then St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Coal Valley and Mary, Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Orion.
 
She was an accomplished seamstress who enjoyed knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, quilting (she was a master quilter), and all types of crafts. She also loved gardening, reading, and her pets.
 
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Alfred, and a son, Jamie Martorano. 
 
She is survived by 10 children and their spouses, Frank (Faith) Martorano of Wyckoff, New Jersey, Ann Marie (Scott) Powers of Santa Barbara, California, Christine (Jon) Martinez of San Diego, California, Theresa (Brad) Keleher of Coal Valley, Illinois, John (Janet) Martorano of Richmond,
California, Joann Martorano of Portland, Oregon, Philip (Mary) Martorano of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Beth (Bryan) Smith of Corralitos, California, Joseph Martorano of Santa Barbara, and Stephen (Lucila) Martorano of Santa Barbara; 23 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a
great-great-granddaughter.
