Jean Herrin: 1930 ~ 2017

Ermogene (Jean) Herrin, a former resident of Three Rivers, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017, in Capitola, Calif. She was 87.
Ermogene was born September 17, 1930, in Lexington, Okla. In 1941, she moved with her family to the Imperial Valley in southeastern California where she graduated from Brawley High School in 1948.
That same year, she married Odell Herrin. They were married for 65 years before he passed in December 2013.
Jean resided in Three Rivers from 1989 to 2015.
She is remembered fondly by her family and friends. She was known for her great sense of humor and her love for the Lord.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Linard Odell Herrin, and her son, Rory Herrin.
She is survived by her sons, Stanley Herrin of Capitola and Wesley Herrin of Salinas; grandsons Adam Herrin, Levi Herrin, and Seth Herrin; great-grandchildren Audra, Nora, Ledger, and Bella, all of Salinas Calif.; and her brother, Young Wesley Umphfres, of Lindsay, Calif.
On Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, a graveside service was held at Three Rivers Cemetery. The service was officiated by Jean’s nephew, Kevin Umphfres, with music by Kevin and Jean’s niece Kelli Coles.
All but one of the above-mentioned survivors were in attendance at Jean’s service in Three Rivers along with other relatives and friends of the family.
