Jackie Maplesden: 1926 ~ 2017


Hilda May “Jackie” Maplesden, a former resident of Three Rivers, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017. She was 91.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 16, 11:30 a.m., at Grace Community Church, 424 N. Lovers Lane, Visalia. A lunch reception will follow in the church’s Student Center, where Jackie’s artwork will be displayed.
Jackie was born May 2, 1926, in Brooklyn, NY, to Howard A. and Ruth B. Kinch. She graduated from Kingston High School in 1943. 
In the summer of 1943, Jackie met her husband-to-be, Richard B. Maplesden. They were married on V-J Day, September 2, 1945.
Jackie and Dick settled in Santa Monica, where they owned and operated a carpet cleaning business for 22 years. Upon their retirement in 1984, the couple settled in Three Rivers.
Jackie learned how to play the organ at the age of 40 and learned to draw and paint when she was 59. She was a member of Grace Community Church of Visalia.
In 2004, Jackie was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Dick. She was also preceded in death by her brother, William Kinch.
She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Maplesden; brother, Don Kinch; many nieces and nephews; and her “like-a-daughter,” Amanda Ingram.
