Cleo White: 1915 ~ 2017

Cleo L. White, known to many just as Grandma White, a former longtime Three Rivers resident, died from natural causes Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, in Visalia. She was 101.

A viewing is scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday, March 4) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Evans Miller Guinn Exeter Chapel (425 N. Kaweah Ave., Exeter).

A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 5, at 1 p.m., at Community Presbyterian Church in Three Rivers. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at the White Horse Inn (42975 Sierra Drive, Three Rivers).

Cleo was born March 24, 1915, to Lola Bell and John Presly Fentress in Montrose, Mo. On November 9, 1934, she married Loyal M. White in Monrovia, Calif.

In 1968, Cleo and Loyal retired to Three Rivers. They purchased the Three Rivers Golf Course, which they successfully operated for several years.

After 66 years of marriage, Loyal passed away on September 2, 2001. Cleo continued to reside in Three Rivers until July 2011 when she moved to Quail Park, a retirement community in Visalia.

At Quail Park, Cleo became known as “the game lady,” always teaching the residents new card games, which included “Kings on the Corners” and “Cleo’s Golf.” She was always up for a game of cards.

Cleo was very spiritual, very spirited, generous to a fault, and quite loveable. She will be incredibly missed by her family and close friends.

In addition to her husband, Cleo was preceded in death in February 2010 by her eldest son,  Dennis L. White.

Cleo is survived by her son, Gary White, and wife Jeanne of Three Rivers and their children, Kristin and husband Josh Wells of Turner, Ore., and Cassie and husband Ramon Lara of Woodlake; Dennis’s children, Steven White and wife Diane of Visalia, Wendy White of Spokane, Wash., and Sydney White of Garfield, Wash.; her daughter-in-law, Anna White of Surprise, Ariz.; and 11 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
