Weekly newspaper of Three Rivers, California, and Sequoia-Kings Canyon National Parks

The recent storms brought several feet of new snow to Sequoia National Park.

WEATHER WATCH: January 18, 2019

A series of three storms arrived in California this past week, bringing periods of moderate to heavy rain to Kaweah Country. They were warm storms, keeping the snowfall high in the Sierra Nevada, but the statewide snowpack is closing in on 90 percent of average, which is a decent reading.

This significant precipitation may need to sustain the region for awhile, however, as the long-range forecast is calling for a sustained warm, dry period that could last through mid-February.
