Boiler Installations

Saddleworth Plumbing Services can install Boilers in most locations and we always do our best to locate them as inconspicuously as possible. We have fitted them in Kitchens, cupboards, ante chambers, dining rooms, spare rooms and offices. We always fit them to the boiler manufacturers installation instructions and make sure to leave the required space around them for servicing and maintenance.

Boiler Locations

We are often asked to install boilers in a potential customers roof space, loft or garage which to the customer seems like an easy way to hide the boiler (out of sight-out of mind) but this can have serious consequences which an untrained person may not be aware of. For instance, when a boiler is fitted in an unheated location, such as a roof space, loft or garage, the boiler will very often, in winter, switch itself on when the temperature in the loft drops to 4 degrees centigrade. This is to protect itself from freezing and then bursting its contents. This also means that any energy saving features are rendered implausible if the boiler is heating up every night in the winter. Customers who have had boilers fitted in these locations by other installers often complain about how big their fuel bills are but are oblivious to the actual cause.

Kitchen locations

When we fit boilers in kitchens we try to fit them so they blend in with the cupboards if possible. Sometimes it is possible to fit them within the actual kitchen cupboard itself which is an aesthetic way of hiding the white casing.

Radiator types

We always fit the modern type of radiator with top and side grill panels which tend to blend in with their surroundings better. If customers want unusual or designer radiators we always give advice on their suitability to the heating system as some can cause problems if not suitable. We fit radiators to BS EN 442 standards which means they should have 150mm gap below them and at least 42mm above them to let the air circulate behind them.

Heating system design

When Saddleworth Plumbing Services arrive at potential customers houses to give a quotation we often hear the customer talk of system problems such as banging and creaking noises, rusting and leaking radiators, cold rooms, large gas bills and expensive maintenance and repair charges. We can usually put most of the problems described down to bad system design so when we replace customers boilers, radiators and equipment we don't believe in doing a rush job (quickest pipe routes, fitting boilers where its easiest for us, shoddy workmanship etc) we want your heating system to work quietly, efficiently and above all we want you to be happy when we have finished. So in a nutshell, we first- make sure that we identify what is wrong with the system, second-we specify quality materials to replace them if needed and third- carry out the work with care so that when we're done you will  recommend us to all your friends and relatives as our previous customers do now.
